Balloons and streamers

It is someone’s birthday. Together with my son I inflate the balloons to decorate the living room. There are already quite a few. We have chosen a calm theme: 2 different colored balloons.

I see the balloon as a beautiful metaphor for your dreams. If you have dreams you will, like a balloon, have to fill them. That requires energy. But if all goes well, your dream is in line with your passion, so you should be fine. 🙂

But then how do you fill your dreams and with what. Just like in those Hollywood movies, for a long time I secretly hoped that someone or something would come along and make my dreams come true, that I would win a lottery or that it would suddenly happen one day without any reason. That turned out not to be the way….

But then what is a way. Perhaps you’ve heard of the law of attraction. It is a law of life that works on the basis of vibrational frequencies. There are a number of issues involved. First of all you have to determine what you want to attract. I compare that to choosing which radio station to listen to. The more concrete, the better. An important aspect of this is your feelings. How would you feel when you have what you want? The stronger your feeling, the stronger your attraction. As a result, you align yourself with your goal. You are additionally communicating to your brain that it is important and that it should be alert to relevant stimuli for your goal.

So it’s not just a matter of sending, but definitely of receiving as well. By consciously connecting with your goal every day, you prevent your brain from accidentally filtering out the relevant stimuli for your goals. It is then a matter of keeping your eyes open, being open to possibilities and seizing the opportunities that come your way.

So it’s about doing something every day “to fill your balloon”. That gives you faith and confidence in what you want. Then you stay sharp and keep focus of your energy and attention.

That all sounds easy, although in practice it can be quite disappointing. Because therein lies the catch. In practice you are your biggest saboteur. That little voice in your head that screams that you’ll never succeed, the “excuses” for not putting energy in it or the fear of taking that one step can make sure that something else is sent out or has your focus other than your dream.

That’s why I started working on my self-love, faith and confidence first. In doing so, I used coaches, started meditating and reading books on these topics. This gave me more knowledge, understanding and tools to handle things differently. I became and am becoming more aware of the thoughts I send out, of things I believe, deep down, and adapt them. Step by step.

And if it works out, no matter how small,  celebrate it with the people around you and be grateful for what you have been given.
